John P. Henry is a Conway native and an original partner and shareholder in the firm. Based in the firm’s Conway office, he focuses his practice in the area of litigation, with a concentration in construction litigation.
For 20 years, Henry has successfully represented property owners and homeowner associations, with many of his clients being awarded multimillion-dollar settlements and verdicts. Henry handles building disputes, ranging from single-family homes to high-rise condominiums and hotels. At issue were structural deficiencies, hazardous conditions, and fire and building code violations.
Henry has had an “AV” rating with Martindale Hubble for over 15 years. This is a rating by peers, which recognizes the highest standards of competence and ethics. Mr. Henry has been repeatedly appointed to the South Carolina Supreme Court as a member of the Commission on Lawyer Conduct.
Henry is a member of the Horry County Bar Association, South Carolina Bar, and the American Bar Association. He is involved in the Construction Law Section of the South Carolina Bar and the Construction Law Forum of the American Bar Association.
He earned an Artium Baccalaureatus degree from Spartanburg Methodist College in 1964 before graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Wofford College in 1966. Henry earned his juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1973.
Active in his community, Henry is a lifetime member of the Board of Trustees of the Garden City Chapel. He also serves on the Spartanburg Methodist College Board of Trustees. He serves on the Coaches Mentoring Team of Horry County Board of Trustees and the Horry County Museum Board. He is also a founding member of the Conway, South Carolina branch of Project Potential, a mentoring program awarding scholarships to deserving students.
